Dear
CFL Family,
It is an honor it is to serve you as Board
Chair. My involvement with the Marianist Family Ministry began
in 1985 with my husband Bill, and four children, Ken Dan Greg
and Beth, participating in the Family Retreat at Cape
May, New Jersey.
Since then we have added Erin, our daughter-in-law, and Zachary
and Teghan, our grandchildren, to our family fold. Our family
has participated and staffed from Maine to North
Carolina the CFL experience. We, as
a family, have been blessed by this most awesome ministry and
hope to give back, with all of you, in some small way. We thank
the Riders for beginning the journey in North
Carolina as we all continue the work
of God for families. Together, in order to carry out our mission
and to communicate our vision for MFM, Inc., we must not
only be fiscally sound, but we also need to be committed to our
core shared belief that family is sacred. Most importantly,
the essence of our ministry is grounded in prayer allowing
Jesus to guide us and Mary to model for us. My personal philosophy
in how that is accomplished is guided by a sincere and respectful
belief that I am me,
I need you and I want us in all that happens. Now how about you? What do you need from your new Board? The newly elected
Officers include: Tom Jones, Vice Chairman, Ted Galantowicz,
Secretary and Carol Weiss, Treasurer. We welcome our new Board
members; Gaye Hieb, Phil Lohr, Don Meyers, Judy Scarzafava,
and Sister Grace Walle, FMI. Many thanks to our returning
Board members Angel Bonet, Dr. Terry Jackson, Emelina Marsh,
Dan Malechuk, and Brother Jack Ventura, S.M. Let us hear
from you. Our correspondence with you will be email, web-site
and/or the local postal carrier. Our updated web-site is www.christianfamilyliving.com
and future plans will make the site more user-friendly. A list
of all Board members, committee members, and Board minutes
is on the web with lots of wonderful information. One exciting opportunity for us all right now is promoting, participating
in, and pledging to support the Father Richard Kuhn, SM Capital Campaign. The proceeds
from your generosity will be designated for the renovation
of the buildings that will allow us to keep our doors open
to all who enter the Holy Ground we call the CFL
Retreat Center.
Father Rich has touched many of our lives since he begin serving
families in the CFL retreat ministry in 1985. Please consider
a pledge as a way of saying thanks to him and all who have
served so selflessly. (See photo of my family and Father Rich
above). Blessed William Joseph Chaminade shared his vision of Marianist Family
with others, allowing them to stumble along the way. He always,
however, offered forgiveness and encouragement, willing to
entrust this work to God. Through collaboration with Adele
de Batz de Trenquelleon and Marie Therese de Lamourous, they
became the head, heart and hands that established the Marianist
Family. That spirit is alive today in Topsail and throughout
the world. On behalf of the entire Board, I ask for your prayers and steadfast, selfless
support, as we continue the journey together. Marianist Blessings,
